Construction applications: SUPERPLASTICIZERS are used to reduce water in CONCRETE formulations. specially formulated organic plasticizer improves the workability of concrete, reducing water requirement and making the concrete stronger. It retards the setting of concrete so that transportation of RMC is not a problem. Benefits of these additives include improved strength, improved workability, improved durability of cement mixtures. This polymer mixture in cement mixtures control air pore content and prevent AGGLOMERATION of powders during the spray-drying process from the powder manufacturing and storage. Coating formulations with RXSOL-67-6704-210 containing polymers prevent calcium ions from being formed as LIME on concrete surface and improve the appearance and durability of coating.

Superplasticizer RXSOL-67-6704-210 ( High Range Concrete Superplasticiser )  is a brown color sulphonated formaldehyde condensate and sulphonated naphthalene with new generation polymners based admixture for use as a Superplasticizing admixture or high ranger Water Reducerad mixture for all types of concrete. This is in conformation to IS Code 9103:1999. Also meets the requirement of ASTM C 494 & type G and IS 9103-2003,  Suitable for ready mix concrete plants, it is capable of high workability retention up to 2-3 hrs with set retarding effect that helps to produce flowing concrete in hot climates. Further, it assists in long distance transportation of concrete at tropical atmosphere.

This has been formulated to reduce water requirement and to provide excellent plasticity and higher slump for both horizontal and vertical applications. RXSOL-67-6704-210 is manufactured under stringent quality control to ensure uniform and superior performance.

RXSOL-67-6704-210 imparts strong dispersion in the concrete reducing the total water demand in the mix. The reduction in water content also helps to achieve high ultimate strength. This is also very much useful for concrete with free pouring and pumpable consistency. Cement content of the concrete can also be economized with RXSOL-67-6704-210 due to its high cement dispersion property.

Remarks:

Paraffin wax is mostly found as a white, odorless, tasteless, waxy solid, with a typical melting point between about 46 and 68 °C (115 and 154 °F), and a density of around 900 kg/m3. It is insoluble in water, but soluble in ether, benzene, and certain esters. Paraffin is unaffected by most common chemical reagents but burns readily. Its heat of combustion is 42 MJ/kg.

Paraffin wax is an excellent electrical insulator, with a resistivity of between 1013 and 1017 ohm metre.  This is better than nearly all other materials except some plastics (notably Teflon). It is an effective neutron moderator and was used in James Chadwick's 1932 experiments to identify the neutron.

Paraffin wax is an excellent material for storing heat, with a specific heat capacity of 2.14–2.9 J g−1 K−1 (joules per gram kelvin) and a heat of fusion of 200–220 J g−1.  Paraffin wax phase-change cooling coupled with retractable radiators was used to cool the electronics of the Lunar Roving Vehicle during the manned missions to the Moon in the early 1970s.  Wax expands considerably when it melts and this allows its use in wax element thermostats for industrial, domestic and, particularly, automobile purposes.

Performance Characteristics

Plastic Properties: The plastic properties of concrete are not significantly affected by the use of RXSOL CIA 222. However, a higher than normal dosage of air-entraining admixture may be required to achieve desired air contents.

Hardened Properties: Depending on the ingredients and proportions of a concrete mixture, a decrease in compressive strength may be experienced with  RXSOL CIA 222 typically in the range of 5 to 10 percent. Please consult your local sales representative for recommended concrete mixture adjustments prior to the use of  RXSOL CIA 222 admixture. Other hardened properties of concrete are not significantly affected by the use of  RXSOL CIA 222.

Slump and Temperature Development:  RXSOL CIA 222 has no effect on slump or the temperature development profile of concrete.

Concrete-Steel Bond Strength: Concrete to steel bond strength is not affected by  RXSOL CIA 222.

Calcium Format Chemical Reactions
 
Calcium formate can be used to prepare solutions of other water-soluble formate salts. For example, the addition of nickel (II) sulfate to a solution of calcium formate results in the precipitation of insoluble calcium sulfate, leaving nickel (II) formate in solution:
 
Ca(OOCH)2 + NiSO1 → CaSO4 + Ni(OOCH)2
 
In a similar reaction, sulfuric acid reacts with calcium formate to provide low-cost solutions of formic acid:
 
Ca(OOCH)2 + H2 SO4 → CaSO4 + 2HCOOH
 
When heated, calcium formate decomposes to calcium carbonate and formaldehyde:
 
Ca(OOCH)2 → CaCO3 + HCHO
 
Continued heating at higher temperatures results in the breakdown of these decomposition products:
 
HCHO → CO + H2
 
CaCO3 → CaO + CO2
 
Calcium formate can be used as a low-cost reducing agent in the conversion of carboxylic acids to aldehydes. This process is an effective substitute for the troublesome Rosenmund reduction.
