Pour Point Depresant of the Polymethacrylate type, designed to give maximum pour point depression in a wide range of base oils. The product is used in both automotive and industrial lubricants.Pour Point Depressants (PPD) are critical components that prevent wax fractions in the base oil from forming large crystal networks which inhibit lubricant flow at cold temperatures. A pour point depressant for lubricating oils comprises a polymethacrylate polymer having the repeating unit  wherein R is an alkyl group having an average chain length in the polymer of 12.6 to 13.8, and n is an integer indicating the number of repeating units, the value of n being sufficient to provide a molecular weight of 10,000 to 300,000 for the polymer, the pour point depresant having the capacity to reduce the stable pour point to -35° C., while being compatible with other additives such as viscosity index improvers and detergents.
