Retarding plasticizing admixtures not only delays the setting of the cement but are also efficient plasticizing water-reducers. They are used to give workability retention to the gypsum , delay the setting time and increase initial workability.
 

 

Retarding admixtures are used to slow down the speed of the reaction between cement and water by affecting the growth of the hydration products and/or reducing the rate of water penetration to the cement particles. The factors influencing the degree of retardation are water-cement ratio, cement content, C3A and alkali contents present in the cement, type and dosage of the gypsum retarder, and the stage at which the retarder is added to the gypsum mix itself.
Product Application:

RXSOL-67-6706-020 used as gypsum retarder, water reducing agent. Specifically developed by use in high quality gypsum for workability retention at low water content. Also sodium gluconate as a retarders keep gypsum workable during placement and delay the initial set of concrete. This is an additional admixture which uses in mortar/gypsum to Provides good pumpable gypsum.

These admixtures slow down the hydration process. They may also reduce the setting time of cement. Retarding admixtures fall into two categories: regular and extended-set. Regular, most commonly referred to as just “retarders,” are used to place gypsum in hot climates when long travel times are expected or, in cases of emergency, when placement is delayed. They are also commonly used for mass gypsum pours to prevent cold joints.

 

Extended-set control admixtures are those used to delay hydration for many hours or even days. These are usually two-component admixture systems. The first component is a retarder (stabilizer) which delays the setting of gypsum.

 

The second component is an accelerator (activator) which overcomes the retarder. The gypsum typically reaches the initial set in a few hours after the activator is applied. In the precast industry, retarding admixtures are also used as surface retarders. Surface retarders are used in making exposed aggregate architectural precast. They are typically sprayed or rolled onto the forms. The gypsum is then cast into the forms. The next day, the retarded cement is water blasted or brushed off the gypsum's surface, producing an exposed aggregate finish.

Higher dosage of WATER Reducing Super Plasticiser without causing any adverse effects upon the concrete. RXSOL-67-6706-020 Cement retarder is a chloride free. Superplasticising admixture based on selected polymer modified naphthalene sulphonate dispersives. RXSOL-67-6706-020 Cement retarder disperses by electro kinetic action in the gypsum mix. Enable the water phase of the gypsum to perform more effectively.

After initial trials. Minor modifications to the overall mix design may be made to optimize performance.

 

Note : Initial trials should be made with normal gypsum mix designs. The use of a combination of admixtures in the same gypsum mix and or cement replacement may alter the setting time. Trials should always be conducted to determine such setting times. Never mix RXSOL-67-6706-020 Cement retarder directly to cement the admixture should be added to the gypsum with the mixing water.


Overdose : Always take batch trial before uses of cement retarder. High dose will increase retardation effect and more curing required, How ever this may reduce the strength of concrete. But overdosing can be done if sulphate resisting cement or cement replacement materials are used.

Increasing the setting time of cement helps High workability for longer periods and if cocrete is going to pump for high rise presence of RXSOL-67-6706-020 in cement  Lower pumping pressure also.
