Product Short Description: Alkylalkanol typed Nonionic Surfactant Cocamide DEA is an excellent viscosity index improver and foam stabilizer.
Product Description:

Cocamide DEA is a viscous, colorless, amber liquid with a faint odor, Cocamide DEA is a reaction between coconut oil fatty acids and diethanolamine.

Coconut Monoethanolamide, which is designed for use in household and cosmetic preparations. Cocamide MEA is an excellent viscosity index improver and foam stabilizer. Cocamide MEA has very low residual free amine and is a suitable replacement for diethanolamides. Cocamide MEA, or cocamide monoethanolamine, is a solid, off-white to tan compound, often sold in flaked form. The solid melts to yield a pale yellow viscous clear liquid. It is a mixture of fatty acid amides which is produced from the fatty acids in coconut oil when reacted with ethanolamine. Used as foaming agents and nonionic surfactants in shampoos and bath products, and as emulsifying agents in cosmatics.

Product Application:
Cocamide DEA used for: A foaming agent in shampoos and hand soaps, an emulsifying agent in cosmetics, and a viscosity-increasing agent in aqueous products
Cocamide DEA also used in some pet-care and household-cleaning products

Cocamide MEA is typically used as a foam stabilizer and viscosifier in soaps, powdered detergents, industrial and personal care applications.

  • Emulsifying : Promotes the formation of intimate mixtures between immiscible liquids by modifying the interfacial tension (water and oil)
  • Emulsion stabilising : Promotes the emulsification process and improves the stability and shelf life of the emulsion
  • Foam boosting : Improves the quality of the foam produced by a system by increasing one or more of the following properties: volume, texture and/or stability
  • Surfactant : Reduces the surface tension of cosmetics and contributes to the even distribution of the product when it is used
  • Viscosity controlling : Increases or decreases the viscosity of cosmetics
Product Dose:
The Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) Expert Panel concluded that cocamide DEA is safe as a cosmetic ingredient at the concentrations currently being used. Cocamide DEA is water soluble and has a pH of 9.5–10.5 for a 10% aqueous solution.
Product Note:

Storage and Handling

Cocamide MEA should be stored in sealed containers below 30°C in a dry place out of direct sunlight.Handle between 25°C – 35°C. Cocamide MEA will require heat to incorporate, 65-75°C until dissolved is recommended. Avoid prolonged exposure to heating as this may lead to degradation.

Product Technical Specification:

A cleansing agent whose main thing is being a very good team player next to other (anionic) cleaning agents and working as an excellent foam booster. Cocamide DEA is a colorless liquid used in cosmetics and personal care products such as bath oil, shampoo, conditioner, and hair dye.

Remarks:

Cocamide DEA (Cocamide Diethanolamine) is a foaming agent that is used in skin care and hair care products like shampoos and hand soaps.
