Hold cleaning is the difference between a vessel passing a grain or steel-cargo inspection and waiting at anchor. RXSOL hold cleaners target the residues that fail surveys: coal and petcoke staining (COAL STAIN REMOVER, COAL REMOVER RX Hold, ALKALINE HD coal remover), cement and clinker (Cement Remover RX Hold, Hold Block Remover), rust bloom and water staining (Alkaclean HD, BRIGHT CARGO, Holdbrite XF Extra Foam), copper-concentrate and sulphur residues (Copper Concentrate Cleaner), and general grime before a clean-cargo load (Marine Acid Cleaner, Muriatic Acid 250 kg, Inhibited Hydrochloric Acid).
Products are supplied as concentrates for dilution, typically 1 part in 6–9 parts water for alkaline hold wash and up to 1:20 for acid brighteners, applied by hold-wash gun, foam lance or hand spray and rinsed with sea water then fresh water. Dosing guidance is given per hold size — the data sheets quote consumption for Handymax (5 holds) and Panamax (7 holds) vessels — so a chief officer can order the right number of drums before arrival.

How much hold cleaner is needed for a Panamax?
As a rule of thumb from our bulletins, 1,000–2,000 litres of concentrate for a 7-hold Panamax and 500–1,000 litres for a 5-hold Handymax, depending on residue; the product page gives the exact figure.
What removes cement from a hold?
Cement Remover RX Hold (an inhibited acid) dissolves set cement and clinker; Hold Block Remover handles thicker build-up. Neutralise and fresh-water rinse afterwards.
Is there a hold cleaner safe for the crew to apply by hand spray?
Alkaclean HD and Holdbrite XF are low-fuming alkaline cleaners for spray or foam application with standard PPE; acid brighteners need full chemical PPE.
