Hydrazine Test Reagent TK - 17

Size:

Color:

Product Short Description: Reagent of Hydrazine Test Kit powder
Product Technical Specification:

Add 2 micro spoon full of Reagent TK-17. Mix well upto provider dissolves Completely. Wait for 10 minutes.

Remarks:

Before Sampling all PRECAUTION should be taken :::

Toxic effects of Hydrazine ( which is collected in sample ) is a severe skin and mucous membrane irritant in humans; in animals. In humans, the vapor is immediately irritating to the nose and throat and causes dizziness and nausea; itching, burning, and swelling of the eyes develop over a period of several hours. Severe exposures of the eyes to the vapors causes temporary blindness lasting for about 24 hours. Recurrent exposure to hydrazine hydrate has been reported to cause contact dermatitis of the hands without systemic intoxication. In humans, hydrazine is absorbed through the skin, by inhalation, and orally; systemic effects include weight loss, weakness, vomiting, excited behavior, and convulsions; the chief histologic findings are fatty degeneration of the liver and nephritis.

UN number‎: ‎1727
Boiling point‎: ‎240 °C (464 °F; 513 K)
EC Number‎: ‎215-676-4
Molecular Weight: 57.04 g/mol
Molecular Formula: NH4HF2

Ammonium bifluoride [NH4.HF2]

Melting point :124.6°C (Sublimes at higher temperature)
Boiling point : 239.5°C
When dissolved in water, cooling takes place. Material is Hygroscopic at 50% humidity.

Analysis

Appearance : White crystalline solid (Orthorhombic crystals)

NH4HF2 :  98.76%*
(NH4)2SO4 : 0.05%
(NH4)2SiF6  :0.20%
Moisture  :0.59%

Solubility in water  : 60.2 g at 20°C and 156.4g at 60°C per 100ml of water
Solubility in HCl  :  10% (w/v) sample is soluble in 15% (w/w) of HCl at 25°C

*Assay: Weigh accurately about 1.0gm of Ammonium bi fluoride sample. Dissolve it in 100ml distilled water. Titrate with about 1N NaOH. Use Phenolphthalein as indicator. End point is Colourless to Pink.

% acidity as HF =  A / B

1st calculate Consumption of NaOH, B.R. X  Normality of NaOH X  0.02 X 100  = A
Then Divided the result with " Weight of the sample "   = B

%NH4HF= %acidityasHFx57 /  20

Remarks:

Ammonium bifluoride is a white crystal salt chemically when ammonium bifluoride comes in contact with water resulting with the formation of HF.  It is used to brighten aluminum and other metals.
