Engine room Maintenance
Marine & Ship Care
Engine-room chemistry has three jobs: keep heat-transfer surfaces clean, keep cooling water from corroding or scaling the jacket, and keep oily waste under control. RXSOL's engine-room list covers all three. Descaling Liquid and Ultrasonic Descalex Liquid remove carbonate scale from coolers, condensers and heat exchangers; Disc Separator Cleaner HD dissolves the sludge and carbon on purifier bowls; Bilge Clean Degreaser emulsifies bilge oil so the separator can handle it; SEA CLEANER and Sea Growth Treatment SG keep sea chests and sea-water lines free of marine growth, with Aquasperse as a non-toxic antifoulant.
For cooling systems the range includes Coolant Extended Life RXSOL ELC and mono-ethylene glycol for jacket and heat-transfer circuits, Corrosion Scale Inhibitor Liquid, Alkalinity Reducer and Heat Transfer Liquid Propylene Glycol for food-safe applications, plus Barrier Fluid for mechanical seals. Products are supplied in 25 and 210-litre packs with dosing per cubic metre of system volume.
Frequently asked questions
How do I clean a purifier (disc separator) bowl?
Soak the discs in Disc Separator Cleaner HD at the stated dilution (typically 1:4–1:10) for 2–4 hours or use an ultrasonic bath, then rinse; the product dissolves carbon and sludge without attacking the stainless discs.
Which descaler for a sea-water cooler?
Descaling Liquid or Ultrasonic Descalex Liquid circulated at 5–10% until the solution stops fizzing; follow with a neutraliser rinse.
What is the dose for a nitrite-based cooling-water inhibitor?
Typically maintained at 1,000–2,400 ppm nitrite; use the Cooling Water Test Kit RXSOL 309 to check and the product page for the exact dose per cubic metre.
Do you supply extended-life coolant for Wärtsilä or MAN engines?
Coolant Extended Life RXSOL ELC is a carboxylate (OAT) coolant for modern engines; check the engine maker's spec on the product bulletin.
