Chemical treatment is only as good as the test that controls it. RXSOL supplies the kits that go with its treatment programmes, each with reagents, comparator or titration hardware, and a method card. Boiler and cooling: Cooling Water Test Kit RXSOL 309 (nitrite, pH, chloride), boiler kits for alkalinity, phosphate, sulphite, hardness and chloride, Nitrite Test Kit, Iron Test Kit, Thioglycollate indicator. Potable and fresh water: Potable Water Test Kit, Fresh Water Test Kit, Chlorine Test Kit 0–25 ppm (DPD), Coliform Test Kit PUT-n-SEE, H2S vial bacteriological kit. Ballast: TRO Calibration Kit and TRO indicators. Stainless-steel passivation: Copper Sulfate LR for passivation test and Ferroxyl Test Kit for free iron. Also: glassware cleaner for the ship's laboratory and replacement reagents sold separately.
Kits are supplied with reagent expiry dates and can be replenished by reagent part number.

Presence of coliform-type bacteria in drinking water within 24–48 hours (vial turns black); it is a screening test, not a count.
