Cooling Water Chemical
Water Treatment
Cooling water corrodes, scales or fouls — usually all three. RXSOL's range is organised by system type. Closed loops (engine jackets, chilled water, HVAC): CorroSOL 40 Nitrite Corrosion Inhibitor, CorroSOL 50 Molybdate for nitrite-sensitive systems, CorroShield L01 and L05, CHEMZOL 9330, and glycol-based Concentrate Heat Transfer Antifreeze. Open recirculating towers and once-through systems: EcoGuard Corrosion Protection PolyPhos, Corrosion Inhibitor for Multi Metal Cooling Water, Biocide DBN 20 and isothiazolinone biocides, scale and fouling dispersants. Cleaning and conditioning: FERROUSCLEAN iron-oxide remover, Cooling Pad Cleaner CP for evaporative pads, pH Neutralizer Solution.
Control ranges are stated on each page (nitrite 1,000–2,400 ppm; molybdate 150–300 ppm as MoO4; pH 8.5–10 in closed loops) with the matching test kit (Cooling Water Test Kit RXSOL 309). Packs 25 and 210 litres; dosing per cubic metre of system volume.
Frequently asked questions
Nitrite or molybdate — which inhibitor should I use?
Nitrite is the standard for closed loops and marine engines; molybdate is chosen where nitrite is banned, where bacterial nitrite consumption is a problem, or for mixed-metal systems with aluminium.
How is the initial dose calculated?
Multiply the system volume in cubic metres by the litres-per-cubic-metre figure on the product page; then test weekly and top up to hold the reserve.
Which biocide for a cooling tower?
Alternate an oxidising biocide (chlorine or bromine products) with a non-oxidising one (Biocide DBN 20 or isothiazolinone) to prevent resistance; dose by tower volume.
Does the inhibitor protect aluminium?
Multi-metal and molybdate formulations include azole and silicate components for copper and aluminium; the page states compatibility.
