Ballast Tank Chem

Marine & Ship Care

Ballast water management systems need consumables and the tanks they feed need cleaning. RXSOL supplies the chemicals for both. For electro-chlorination and chlorine-based BWMS: Sodium Thiosulfate Pentahydrate and Sodium Sulphite as TRO neutralisers at discharge, Ballast Water Neutralizer and Pure Treat BWT. For disinfection where a chemical dose is permitted: Ballast Water Disinfectant SDIC (sodium dichloroisocyanurate dihydrate), Chlorine Dioxide and ECO Chlor Biological Guard. For the tanks and the system itself: BWMS Descaler and Descalant Offshore 2 for filters and electrolytic cells, Sediment Mud Silt Remover for tank bottoms, Acidic CIP BallastGuard for clean-in-place and Biological Guard Antifouling Concentrate for sea chests and ballast lines.

Each product states the dose in kg or litres per cubic metre of ballast and the test to confirm residual oxidant is within discharge limits. Packs: 25 kg bags and 25/210-litre drums; available at Indian ports and Fujairah.

Frequently asked questions

What neutralises residual chlorine before ballast discharge?

Sodium thiosulphate pentahydrate or sodium sulphite dosed to the TRO reading; the product page gives kg per cubic metre per ppm of residual.

Can you supply chemicals for a specific BWMS make?

Yes — tell us the system (electro-chlorination, UV plus chemical, chlorine dioxide) and we match the consumable.

How is mud and silt removed from ballast tanks?

Sediment Mud Silt Remover is applied by spray or flooding, left to disperse the sediment, then pumped out with the wash water.
