Evaporator Treat

Marine & Ship Care

A fresh-water generator scales fast at 60–80 °C unless the feed is treated. RXSOL's evaporator range is built around polymer and phosphonate scale-control treatments dosed continuously into the feed line — Vapor Treatment, VAPSOL Plus and AMEROL Eva — that keep calcium carbonate and magnesium hydroxide dispersed so they leave with the brine. Antifoam Defoamer AF10 and Elite M8 stop carry-over and priming when the sea water is rich in organics. When scale has already formed, Evaporator Descaler and Evaporator Coil Cleaner (inhibited acid) restore output, and Heat Exchanger Neutralizer follows the acid.

The same category carries the condensate-side chemistry for plant evaporators and heat exchangers: Condensate Amine Neutralizer Corrosion Inhibitor, Heat Exchanger PhosClean and Caus cleaners, and corrosion inhibitors for closed cooling systems. Doses are given in ml per tonne of distillate or per cubic metre of system volume.

Frequently asked questions

What is the dose of evaporator scale-control treatment?

Continuous dosing in the range of 10–30 ml per tonne of distillate produced is typical; the product bulletin gives the figure for each formulation.

How do I descale a fresh-water generator?

Circulate Evaporator Descaler at 5–10% through the evaporator section at 40–60 °C until the reaction stops, drain, neutralise with Heat Exchanger Neutralizer and rinse.

Why is my evaporator foaming?

Organic-rich or polluted sea water; dose Antifoam Defoamer AF10 to the feed and reduce the brine density.
