Frequently asked questions

3A or 13X molecular sieve?

3A for drying polar liquids and gases where other molecules must be excluded (ethanol, natural gas); 13X for air drying, CO2 and sulphur removal.

What regenerates activated alumina?

Heated purge air at 150–250 °C; the pink indicating grade turns from pink to blue as it dries.

How is permanganate-impregnated alumina used?

In air-filter beds of fruit stores, wastewater plants and control rooms to oxidise ethylene, H2S and odours; replace when the purple colour fades to brown.
